Standing in a meadow alone on the East side of the harbor
in Herring Cove is the Umbrella Tree. It stands
there watching the comings and goings of those who live
nearby and the many who have passed through the entrance
of the harbor, as it has done for years and years.
The people living close by regard it lovingly, and see
that it is well-protected and preserved.
